IF the player has tried for a reasonable amount of time, yo.When Twitch Plays Pokemon was just starting up Pokemon FireRed a little over a week ago, we told you about the new feature in the game known as the randomizer. Reasonable Walkthroughs only allowed for reasonable use – reasonable puzzles that block reasonable progress, etc.
Modifying the “first encounter only” rule for the Safari Zone, sometimes allowing one encounter for each area, or until they catch one Pokémon in the entire area, and vice versa. No use of legendary Pokemon before 4th Gym. Likewise, in the games where the rival battle is immediately after getting the starter Pokémon, the “any that faint must be released” rule is not enforced at that time. Not officially enforcing the rules until the player has Poké Balls and can catch Pokémon. If the last number is 1-3 the player starts with the left Pokemon, 4-6 is middle Pokemon, 7-9 is right Pokemon, 0 is the player’s choice. Starter Pokémon is based on the player’s Trainer ID number. Being able to do so would render all of the other rules pointless. No voluntarily resetting and reloading the game when things go wrong. No use of Pokemon you haven’t personally caught (no trading, scrublords). “Game over” is defined as restarting from the most recent checkpoint (save point), if no checkpoint has been achieved a complete restart is required. If the player gets a game over, they can start from when they got their previous Gym Badge. As another mercy rule, each Gym Badge acts as a checkpoint. Also not a definite rule, but the general consensus is that a black out/white out is considered to be “game over”, even if there are Pokémon left in the PC. The theme may be decided by the other people who are not competing at the unanimous decision of all competitors involved. Players must name all Pokemon according to a pre-determined theme decided by the other competitor(s).
Shiny Pokemon may replace the Pokemon captured from that same area if no Pokemon have been caught in that area it must be boxed. If the first Pokemon has already been captured, for the sake of variety, the player may continue on until they find a new Pokemon to be the Pokemon from that area.If the first Pokémon encountered faints or flees, there are no second chances. The player may only catch the first Pokémon encountered in each area, and none else.Any Pokémon that faints is considered dead, and must be released or put in the Pokémon Storage System permanently.
